Operation Christmas Child

Ever thought that a simple shoe box with small gifts could make a huge difference?

Crossroads annually supports Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign and calls for local businesses, schools, sporting groups and individuals to help put a smile on a child living in third world conditions.

Shoe boxes are due in October every year.

How to pack a box

The shoe boxes can be filled with toys, school supplies, items for personal hygiene and clothing. Many children who receive a Christmas box have never received a gift before and their parents are not in a position to give.

This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, but a hands-on project that has the power to transform lives. It is a fantastic way to teach children in particular what the true spirit of Christmas is all about.

Operation Christmas Child is an initiative by Samaritan’s Purse. Last year alone the Australian and New Zealand teams delivered more than 300,000 shoe boxes to South East Asia and the South Pacific. Globally Samaritan’s Purse distributes 7.6 million shoe boxes to children in 105 countries each year.

Since 1998, Crossroads has been a part of Operation Christmas Child. In 2018 the church provided over 500 boxes to children in South East Asia. It is a simple and effective way to make a huge difference in a child’s life.
