Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for you to bless children in need and living in vulnerable situations, by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts. Many children after receiving a shoebox are invited to participate in The Greatest Journey Bible classes which has seen over 26.5 million children make decisions to follow Christ since 2009.
Wendy B says:
”I’m looking forward to our special Christmas Carol Service (and supper) on Sunday 11 December at 7 pm in the Crossroads Uniting Church. Anyone who can sing or play an instrument is invited to come to Sunday evening rehearsals starting on Sunday 6 November, from 5.45 pm to 7 pm. Judy Vincent who comes from many years leading the choir at Neil Street Uniting Ballarat will be our guest conductor this year.”

Two congregations on one site nearly here
The forthcoming closure of Hoppers Crossing Uniting Church building on Derrimut Road brings a new opportunity and challenge for the two Uniting congregations in Wyndham municipality.

This writer asked the Rev. Fa’amata’u’ Leota, minister of Hoppers Crossing UC congregation (pictured) about the move. “There’s a lot of grieving and sadness among our people, at leaving the place of worship familiar to us over past years. It’s a time of upheaval. Because of the problematic condition of the building, this move is inevitable. We thank the Werribee Crossroads congregation for your generosity and offer of hospitality.”

The Rev. Linley Liersch, Presbytery of Port Phillip West’s Mission and Development Strategist (pictured) is involved in arrangements for Hoppers Crossing congregation’s move to Crossroads site. She says: “I’m helping to co-ordinate two lots of decision making in this situation. We are working towards an anticipated moving date of 27 November.
The leadership teams are working hard and meeting weekly.” Robert R, chairperson of Crossroads Uniting Church Council, had this to say: “Both Crossroads and Hoppers Crossing congregations are clearly at the threshold of some major changes—not so much in our activities or worship but in our mindset or our thinking about ourselves. Our planning for the introduction of the Hoppers Crossing congregation on site is making progress with the mechanics of the move but ‘getting our head around’ the significance and the longer-term effects will take some effort on the part of both congregations. The Crossroads people will have the advantage of being on familiar territory, but the Hoppers Crossing people will have to adjust to the new surroundings as well.” (NT)

Wyndham MultiFaith Dinner 10 November
Free food and good company – it’s all happening!

Chairperson Bhakta D and Vice-chairperson Monica R invite you, with people of all religions to Wyndham Multi-Faith Dinner at 7 pm on Thursday Nov 10 at Wayaperri House, 106 Duncans Road Werribee (opposite Werribee High School).

Over several years Crossroads Werribee Uniting Church folk have customarily supported this local event, for the opportunity it provides to share understanding and grow friendships.
This year it is important to book in early, as numbers are limited in this small venue.
A free vegetarian buffet hot meal is provided courtesy of Sunil Abbott’s Jai Ho Indian restaurant in Hoppers Crossing.
A panel discussion will focus on the topic “Hope through inter faith in today’s world,” and there will be musical items from the Baha’i and Buddhist communities.
You may wish to invite a friend from the broader community. Register at https://www.trybooking.com/CDQAH. Enquiries – talk to Neil T (NT)
